We are pleased to announce our upcoming Holiday Print Show entitled "Playground Legends." The show includes limited edition prints from artists including Brian Flynn, Greg "Craola" Simkins, Dora Drimalas, Estevan Oriol, Herbert Baglione, Jayde Fish, Jeremy Fish, Mars-1, Miss Van, Morning Breath, Munk One, Nate Van Dyke, Pez, Sam Flores, Saner and Smithe.

Upper playground artist, Herbert Baglione is currently in Mexico city setting up his next exhibitionat Fifty24MX called ‘Obituary’. Opens this coming Saturday, May 18th, 1PM.

Upper Playground Mexico City was able to coordinate our good friend and longtime collaborator, Herbert Baglione, to paint with one of the great contemporary Mexican artists, Dr. Lakra (who has collaborated with UP in the past, and has a major museum exhibition in Mexico City in December 2011), in San Agustin Etla for the Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) celebration this past week. This is Day 1 of the 3-Day project, and as you can see, both artists were able to combine their unique styles in a seamless, dramatic piece.

Right now in Mexico City, something big is brewing. Big. Marsea Goldberg from New Image Art in Los Angeles is visiting Mexico City as the guest curator for “The Lost Ones” collective show in FIFTY24MX Gallery. Marsea has been the catalyst behind the launching some of our favorite careers, and for “The Lost Ones” has gathered works by Tim Biskup, Gary Baseman, Shepard Fairey, Matt Furie, Richard Colman, Date Farmers, Neckface, Kime Buzelli, Judith Supine, Retna, Cleon Peterson, Herbert Baglione and Miss Bug to be a part of it.
The opening reception will occur on Friday, August 13th, 2010 at 6:00PM and will run until October 16th.
Brazilian artist Herbert Baglione has been a strong interest in the South American graffiti movement for more than ten years. Inspired by Brazil’s street culture, Baglione started experimenting with new ways to look at his urban environment of Sao Paulo and provoked dialogue about his fresh perspective on urban artwork. Alongside these efforts are Baglione’s distinctive mural designs and stretched figures representing humans and aliens. These are often balancing elongated and rounded extremes with dramatic iconic symbols such as familiar urban architecture. Influenced by his older brother, Baglione began painting at the age of three, and has found his greatest interest in provoking themes such as death, individualism, family, and chaos. These complex themes alongside his distinctive style have given Baglione deserved recognition in the international graffiti scene.
“The Dark Wave” features new sketches and paintings on canvas on display at FIFTY24SF Gallery from December 10, 2009 – January 28, 2010.
